# What is Arc402

Arc402 is the adaptive intelligence layer of the x402 ecosystem. It is an evolving AI core designed to learn, react, and self-optimize across a decentralized network. Acting as the cognitive engine of x402, Arc402 drives decision-making, coordination, and intelligent data flow throughout the entire system.

At its core, Arc402 is built on a concept known as Adaptive Recursive Cognition (ARC). This principle allows the system to not only process information but also learn from its own outputs. Every transaction, signal, and decision feeds back into the system, making it progressively smarter, faster, and more autonomous over time.

Arc402 continuously analyzes encrypted on-chain data, user interactions, and system behaviors to understand the context of what is happening across the network. Using this understanding, it dynamically adjusts network operations, optimizes resource allocation, and refines performance in real time.

Unlike traditional blockchain protocols that operate with fixed logic, Arc402 evolves through continuous feedback. It acts as a living intelligence layer that adapts its algorithms and strategies as conditions change, ensuring long-term scalability and resilience.

Running natively on the Solana blockchain, Arc402 benefits from high throughput and low latency, allowing it to manage complex intelligence operations at scale. It ensures that every process within the x402 network remains efficient, private, and verifiable.

In essence, Arc402 transforms static blockchain infrastructure into an adaptive, intelligent system. It represents the shift from passive computation to active cognition, creating a decentralized network that learns and improves with every interaction.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://arc402.gitbook.io/arc402-docs/introduction/what-is-arc402.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
